I’m Jose, a Spanish photographer based in Manchester. I grew up in a small town in Andalucía and moved to the UK a few years ago.
That mix of South of Spain and Manchester shows up a lot in my pictures; friends, quiet streets, small moments in the city and people just getting on with their day.
I’m currently studying BA (Hons) Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University and working in hospitality in the city centre. Being around people all the time has made me realise how much I enjoy listening, talking and making others feel relaxed.
On shoots, I try to keep things simple and calm, so the person in front of the camera can just be themselves. I’m interested in portraits, fashion and everyday scenes, and I like working in both digital and film.
For me, the camera is a way to slow down and connect with my friends, with strangers and with the places I live in. I’m always looking for small gestures, body language and those in-between moments that feel honest and real.
